Bake some healthy treats

for your furry friends, with Kari!

Join Kari Kalway the owner of Puddles Barkery ,
on Sunday, September 13 at 12 pm PT (3 pm ET).
At this fun zoom gathering, she'll be hosting a baking show to help you bake healthy treats for your dogs at home. They will take an online recipe (of Blueberry Muffins) and make the appropriate ingredient modifications to make them healthy for our dogs.

Here’s the online recipe she will modify: Baking base recipe

  • 1 1/2 cups (195 grams) all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar, plus 1 tablespoon for muffin tops

  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) neutral-flavored oil; canola, vegetable, and grape seed are great

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup (80 ml – 120 ml) milk; dairy and non-dairy both work

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 6 to 8 ounces fresh or frozen blueberries; see note below about frozen berries (about 1 cup)

Recipe with her modifications.

You will need blueberries, flour, baking powder, unsweetened applesauce, eggs, and water or chicken broth.

  • 2 cups flour (rice, organic wheat, garbanzo bean, etc.)

  • Zero sugar or salt!

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce (1 to 1 conversion from oil in the recipe)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

  • 6 to 8 ounces fresh or frozen blueberries

Bake on 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
