This Dog’s Metastatic Cancer Disappeared - and he’s not the only one
When Rainier, a sweet 8-year-old Akita from Roy, WA, was diagnosed with metastatic cancer, his vets gave him just months to live. But enrolling in a clinical trial made possible by the Wag Love Life 5K, something extraordinary happened—his cancer vanished, leaving even the veterinary team stunned.
He received experimental EGFR/HER2 vaccine immunotherapy treatment, now available at 11 locations in the US, including the Seattle area!

Who is Rainier? What was remarkable about his recovery?
Rainier is a nine-year-old Akita dog. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2023, but unfortunately, the cancer spread to his lungs. Cancer metastasis is considered a death sentence for dogs, but with the help of an experimental immunotherapy vaccine made possible by Wag Love Life, he became cancer-free. He will be joining our walk at Marymoor Park this year! You can learn more about Rainier here.
